Some important info from the Rules:
Team information
Senior High Qualifies for Division C
Varsity team size: 15 total, maximum of seven 12th grade students.
JV Team size: we will determine this if we have more than 20 members who want to participate
General Info
23 different Events
Classified into 4 Event Types (descriptions on page 1)
Core Knowledge Event
Build Event - Must be built prior to competition and brought to competition
Laboratory/Hands-On Event
Hybrid Event (core knowledge with a Build or Lab)
The Competition format is similar to a Track Meet. Each team of two (or individuals) compete in an event and can "place" in that event. Their "place" determines how many points the team earns from that event. So, you can earn awards in your own event and the whole team can earn awards for collective points.
To do Today
**You will spend the next 10 STEM Science Olympiad Training sessions perfecting/practicing/learning about your event. The training sessions are just like practice if you are in band or if you are in a sport - you cannot expect to perform better than the other competitors if you don't "train" for your event(s).**
Examine the different events
Determine which events you would be most interested in. Read the entire description of the event. "Build" events require that you build something to take to the event for competition so they take more time!
Sign up for the events you are interested on the Science Olympiad Events and Info spreadsheet
